Town Meeting struck down a citizen petition to put the question to a direct vote last fall. This is an open public session.

A dose of good news
The Old Stop & Shop Won't Stay Empty — Apna Bazar Plans to Open by June
Shrewsbury's vacant Stop & Shop at 📍 539–571 Boston Turnpike has sat empty since November 2024. Apna Bazar, a national Indian and world grocery chain, has confirmed plans to move into the 70,000-square-foot building — and it would be the largest Apna Bazar location in the country. The store is targeting a June opening. Because Apna Bazar is moving into an existing supermarket shell with only cosmetic changes and no footprint expansion, it may be able to skip the full Planning Board and ZBA process. A March 18 meeting with town officials ended positively, according to the store's representatives.

In Brief
Spring is here and inventory is still tight. The most recent data puts Shrewsbury's median sale price around $663K, up roughly 6% from a year ago.
